#1 Vintage Inspired: The 1920s
Vintage
is nothing new for weddings, but we were totally on to this trend for our 2013 wedding dress predictions and we’re still calling it as a big trend in overall wedding
themes for next year. Think Great Gatsby style
garden parties and swanky jazz club fêtes. We’ll see some style influence from
the 30s and 40s, too, although the Roaring 20s will make the biggest mark. Art
deco elements are particularly stylish, like these invitations from Ceci New York.
#2 Mint
Mint was huge for the past spring
and summer and we see it lingering in the hearts of brides planning 2013
weddings. This cool color is fresh, modern and retro all at once.
#3 Rainbow Colors
Maybe
you’re not inspired by just one wedding color and prefer to use…all of them!
Weddings styled by Roy G. Biv are going to be big next year and we love the
bright, happy and festive look for every wedding detail. Whether you do it bold
or pastel, you can even outfit your bridal party in the colors of the rainbow.
Even if you don’t do all out rainbow, bold use of color in weddings is soo 2013
(for wedding dresses,
too!).
#4 Birds
They
don’t call them lovebirds for nothing! These monogamous creatures are the most
romantic animals of all time so it’s no wonder they make a good match for
weddings. And they’re so dang cute on wedding decorations,
invitations, cake toppers, centerpieces, and on and on and on…
#5 Creative Backdrops
For outdoor weddings and more, a pretty and custom-made backdrop against
which to say your vows is a soon to become must-have. These backdrops are the
focal point of your wedding ceremony decoration and are spectacular settings
for snapshots of your fist kiss. Consider streamers or origami for a very colorful DIY
ceremony backdrop.
#6 Covered Centerpieces
Floral designs and other
planted centerpieces will be getting covered up and caged in for 2013.
Terrarium centerpieces made with bell jars or glass vases put a clean and
modern “do not touch” touch on your floral centerpieces. As for the birdcages
#7 Lounge Areas
Creating a cozy lounge environment at the wedding reception will be much
appreciated by your guests.
#8 Mini Menus
When it
comes to appetizers and desserts, mini is mega-cool. Your guests will love
small sandwiches, bitty beverages and dainty desserts. Make it more memorable
with classic (or exotic!) pairings of food and unconventional or simply
knockout presentation. Just make sure there’s enough to go around! Related upcoming trend: a selection of small wedding
cakes rather than one big one.
#9 Beer
There’s nothing wrong with a signature wedding cocktail but you might want to think about offering some specialty brews at your shindig. With so many microbrews and craft beers available these days, you shouldn’t have trouble finding something unique to serve your guests. Make beer bottles even more special with custom wedding day labels, like these from ZCreate Design on Etsy.
#10 Do Your Own Thing
This is
by far the BEST and fastest growing trend in the wedding world. More and more
couples are feeling free to make their wedding day exactly what they want it to be.
You don’t HAVE to get married in a church, you don’t HAVE to wear white, you
don’t HAVE to have attendants, you don’t HAVE to listen to your relatives
(unless they’re paying, but still, they should respect your wishes) and you
don’t even have to listen to us (though we do have some fabulous ideas). Trends
can be ignored and traditions can be tossed out the window.
Even if it means having a Star Wars
themed wedding, we say, “Just do you.”

Yeah, this wedding seems very special! The decoration that their event planner did was wonderful. Even I want a similar decoration at Chicago wedding venues which we are thinking to book. I really enjoyed watching these photographs.
